Chambray All Day

My chambray shirt is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. I love how easy it is to throw it on with black jeans and flats and still look polished.

Although the fabrics may look similar to one another, chambray is not denim – at one point I used to think they were one and the same.

Both fabrics are made of cotton, but the difference lies in the construction: chambray is made with a simple (yet strong) plain weave, while denim is sewn with a twill diagonal weave.

I love how chambray can take you from late summer to fall and back into spring again. Below are a few of my favorite chambray shirts right now.

Relaxed Chambray Classic Shirt for Women (Old Navy)

Old Navy’s quality is hit-or-miss these days. Most of the shirts I’ve ordered recently have either stretched out or ripped in the wash. It’s a bummer.

But, I have the relaxed chambray shirt and it has held up well for a few years. I’d feel confident recommending it to you. Also, right now, it’s 30% off with code HURRY.

Everyday Chambray Shirt (J. Crew)

This is your classic chambray shirt: a faded blue wash, double chest pockets, and functional white buttons. It’s also made from a sustainable material according to J. Crew’s Re-Imagined initiative.

Sizes are selling out quickly, so act fast! It’s 50% off today with code FRIDAY.

Denim Perfect Shirt (Gap)

Gap’s chambray shirt is a more grown-up version than Old Navy’s: it doesn’t have a wash and is a lighter, more classic blue fabric.

It’s also on major sale today: a total of 60% off by using the codes SMILE and GAPTREAT at checkout.

Chambray Classic Ex-Boyfriend Shirt in Evie Wash (Madewell)

Madewell’s version of the classic chambray shirt is light blue with double pockets and slight washing through the front. I like how it’s a modern take on an old classic.

While this color might be better suited for spring, I think it could still work under a vest or paired with dark denim. It’s 25% off right now with code SNEAKPEEK.

How do you style your chambray shirts for fall? Let me know in the comments! Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
